he ZTM-HIVO-6K is a variable high-voltage source for low-power electric-field generation. Output voltage is controlled through the ZapLink TWI interface and can be adjusted from approximately 1,000 V to 6,000 V in fine steps.
The module is intended for applications where high voltage is needed, but only very small currents are required. On-board output limiting further restricts the available current to approximately 25 µA, making it well suited to ion transport, electrostatic field generation, and cloud chamber ion sweeping.
Typical applications include:
Producing several thousand volts is not difficult in principle. Producing it cleanly, repeatably, and safely inside a finished product is a different problem.
Rather than using a basic discrete diode ladder as the main high-voltage generator, the ZTM-HIVO-6K uses an XP Power E60 high-voltage module. This gives the design a proven encapsulated HV stage with proper insulation, compact construction, and predictable behaviour under light-load conditions.
For the end user, this means the expensive part of the module is doing important work. It is not just “making high voltage”; it is making high voltage in a controlled, insulated, product-ready way.
The standard version is controlled digitally through the ZapLink TWI interface, allowing the output voltage to be set by a compatible controller.
For custom applications, the design can also be adapted for fixed-voltage operation or manual adjustment using a variable resistor.
Although the ZTM-HIVO-6K is deliberately current-limited, it still generates up to 6,000 V DC and should be treated as high-voltage equipment.
Do not touch the high-voltage output while powered. Allow time for external loads and electrodes to discharge after use, and make sure the module is mounted with appropriate clearance, insulation, and strain relief. Sharp conductors, exposed terminals, contamination, and poor wiring layout can encourage corona discharge or arcing.
Used correctly, the module provides a convenient low-current high-voltage source for controlled electrostatic experiments. Used carelessly, it can still bite.
The ZTM-HIVO-6K is made to order, and delivery may take one month or longer depending on component availability.
For made-to-order purchases, please select “Direct bank transfer” at checkout to defer payment, and add a note to the order if you would like to discuss timing or configuration before the module is built.
We use RoHS 3 compliant components wherever practical, helping reduce unnecessary hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, and cadmium in our products. In the rare case that a suitable RoHS 3 compliant alternative is not available, we will make this clear so you know exactly what you are buying.
